Candy grams are sweet treats. (hearts for st valentines day image by Maria Brzostowska from

Valentine's Day is a time to express love to others through flowers, gifts, candy or romantic gestures. A candy gram is also an inexpensive way to say, "I love you." Be creative and open your heart when making a candy gram for the one you love. Your valentine will appreciate the thought and effort that went into it.

Candy Gram Letter

Write a candy gram letter to your valentine using your favourite candy wrappers. Write the letter on a large poster board. Cut out pieces of the candy wrapper to fill in the sentences. Block unwanted words on the candy wrapper with tape or stickers. For example, use an empty box of Junior Mints to fill in the sentence, "We were 'mint' to be together." Your valentine will love the creativity and use of her favourite candy. This candy gram letter shows that you took time to make it special.

Candy Rhymes

Create candy gram rhymes for friends and family for Valentine's Day. Use empty candy wrappers to paste on individual valentines. For example, use a Nestle Crunch bar wrapper and write, "I love you a bunch because you're there when I'm in a crunch." Paste the wrapper over the word "crunch." Try using two candy wrappers to make the rhyme harder. Your valentine, friends, and family will feel special and have a good laugh at the candy gram rhyme.

Candy Gram Fundraiser

Raise funds for a school group or organisation by selling Valentine's Day candy grams. Advertise the candy grams to parents, children and company employees for a small fee. Use heart-shaped lollipops in red and white and arrange them in a bouquet with a ribbon. Put the lollipop bouquet in a festive coffee mug. Encourage people to preorder their candy gram so you will know how many to make. On Valentine's Day, distribute the candy grams to offices, schools and churches with personal messages from the sender. This will help raise funds for your group and advertise for its cause.

Sweet Treat Bars

Cut a piece of plain white paper to the size of a chocolate bar. Have children decorate the paper with heart stamps, stickers and red glitter. Once the paper is decorated, fold it around the chocolate bar. Glue the paper onto the chocolate bar for a more secure fit. Attach a Valentine's Day message to the personalised chocolate bar for friends, family and teachers.
