Creating custom homemade greeting cards can be challenging and time consuming, but also rewarding and memorable. They can also be enjoyable to create as you can personalise each one to the person you plan on giving them to. Adding elegant elements to your homemade greeting cards will add flair and give your cards a professional looking touch.

Stamping

You can purchase a wide variety of stamps at your local craft store or from an online craft or scrapbooking website. Colour coordinate your stamp ink colours and stick with one colour palette, or simply purchase black to keep it simple, modern and elegant. Purchase foliage stamps and simple swirls to decorate the text within your greeting cards and around the inner edges. You can also purchase individual letter stamps or alphabet sets to thoroughly decorate your card with custom stamped lettering and text.

Personalise Them

Add some personalisation by purchasing elegant stencils or creating your own, filling them with alternating colours of paint or maker. Use fancy or cursive lettering to stencil names and other custom information you want inside the card. Purchase individual sticker sets to add a more custom feel to each one of your greeting cards. You can add these stickers to the background of your cards or throughout the text to spice it up a bit.

Finishing Touches

Purchase craft punches in different shapes such as hearts or stars for added texture in your greeting cards. When you're finished decorating the inside of your greeting cards and finalising the information within them, punch out some custom shaped holes throughout the card and its envelope. You can add heart punches to each corner of the envelope and tie in some ribbon through each one into bows. You can stencil or stamp the top of your greeting card's envelope with the recipient's name or another welcoming greeting.
