18th Birthday Party Ideas in London

Updated July 19, 2017

Planning an 18th birthday party in London is as simple as deciding what you want to do. Whether you choose to bring guests with proper ID or cater to a crowd of your friends that vary in age, London is a city that has options for everyone. Choose from spa days, sports nights, or a combination of events, but remember: the key to a fantastic 18th birthday party is just to enjoy it.

A Night of Theater

Take in a show at one of London's world-class theatres for a dramatic birthday treat. Some shows you might be able to catch include: Wicked, Les Miserables, The Lion King, Billy Elliot, Dirty Dancing, Mamma Mia, Grease, and many more, depending on what is available at the time of your booking. Ticket prices vary according to show and most theatres allow you to book online. It is a good idea to book in advance, especially if you are taking a group of friends. Some theatres offer dinner with the show, but you could always have dinner somewhere else before or after the show.

Clubs or Pubs

Now that you are legal it seems only natural to celebrate by planning a big bash at a bar. Call ahead and do your research as some of London's finest clubs (Cafe de Paris for instance) are minimum-age 21. You can often book a VIP room or at least a special table in a club or a pub to accommodate the size of your group and suit your party needs. Whether you opt for live music or club beats, you can dance the eve of your 18th birthday away in one of London's lively nightspots.

Everything Else

You can book a private party room at some of the bowling alleys in London, like Bloomsbury Bowling Lanes. The Kingpin suite includes such features as: a few lanes for your group, a games room, a DJ system and karaoke. Make a night of karaoke itself at a karaoke club downtown. Other ideas for an 18th birthday to remember: a day of golf, Bollywood, or belly-dancing birthday packages. Don't disclude day trips featuring London's finest attractions like Rock'n'Roll tours, Harry Potter's London tour, or splurge and do a helicopter tour of this historic city. Day tours can be followed by dinner in one of London's gastronomical hotspots like Jamie Oliver's restaurant, Fifteen. The London Eye offers a champagne flight which would be an exciting addition to birthday plans, as it only takes 30 minutes.
