Add a few personal touches to the women's bathroom at your wedding reception venue to make your guests feel welcome when they need to use the facilities. While you don't have to decorate the bathroom the same way as the reception area, adding a few decorations that complement your wedding will visually connect the two spaces.

Countertop Decorations

The amount of decoration you add to the bathroom should depend on how drab the bathroom is, how large the bathroom is and how fancy your wedding is. If counter space is limited, avoid filling it with decorative accessories. The rest room should look, smell and feel nice, although it shouldn't be fancier than your reception space. Add a simple bouquet of fresh flowers or a bowl of potpourri on the counter for a fresher feeling. Try scented candles that complement your wedding colours and the season, such as melon in the summer or pumpkin in the fall.

Supply each bathroom with an emergency kit and basket in case your guests find themselves without something important. An emergency kit could include bandages, a sewing kit, sanitary products, rubbing alcohol, antacids and a pain reliever. The emergency items can be combined with a few thoughtful goodies in a decorative basket, if you prefer. Include travel-sized bottles of spray deodorant, perfume, hairspray, hair pins, clear nail polish, lip gloss, disposable toothbrushes, mouthwash, gum, mints, small paper cups, hand sanitiser, hand lotion, a manicure kit, nail glue and a few pairs of nude and black pantyhose.

Add a small poem or note by tying it to the basket or framing it next to the basket. The note should let your guests know they should use any items they may need but leave the rest for other guests.

Bathroom Door

Decorate the door to the rest room if you want to add a little something, especially on a plain door. A simple floral wreath that complements the bridal bouquet will add decoration to the door without being overbearing or competing with the reception decorations. Consider adding your new monogram inside the wreath if the bathroom is reserved for your wedding. For an outdoor reception, portable toilets can be disguised by putting them inside of a simple white tent.
