Several issues can affect Sony Trinitron televisions. Some issues may be due to electrical faults inside the set itself; in these cases, hire a repair professional or contact Sony customer service directly. Other problems are more straightforward, requiring only some basic connection checks and menu adjustments to get your Trinitron back to good health.

Low or No Sound
If your Sony Trinitron TV has no sound or an unusually low volume, try increasing the volume to a high level via the remote control. Also ensure the mute button has not been pressed accidentally, and that there are no headphones connected to the TV, as these will inhibit the sound output. Lastly, access the Sony Trinitron menu screen and make sure the speakers are set to "On." Make sure the modular television settings (MTS) on the menu screen are set either to Main or Stereo.
If you have a device connected to your Sony Trinitron, such as a cable receiver, a games console or a DVD player, try adjusting the volume on that device. External devices have their own volume controls that can affect the sound output from your Sony Trinitron. If the volume buttons or external devices are not at fault, check your audio and video connections on the rear of your television.
No Signal Message
If your Sony Trinitron displays "No Signal" on the screen, it may be sourced from an input that has no device connected to it. In this case, press the TV/VIDEO button on your remote control and change it to another input source. A "No Signal" message may also appear if the channel being viewed is not active or the media input is blank. Try changing the channel or putting in a different DVD to see if a picture appears. If your Trinitron television uses a straight-to-air antenna, make sure the coaxial cable is securely fitted to the rear of the TV. If your signal is sourced from a set-top cable box, make sure it’s securely connected to your Trinitron TV.
Blinking or Constant LED Light
Sony Trinitron televisions come with indicator lights on the lower front side of the sets. They are designed to show the TV status or alert users when key features are enabled. If the red light stays on continuously, it indicates the power is off, and is nothing to worry about. If your Trinitron set is connected to the Internet via a computer, an orange light will blink when the TV is receiving a software update. When a software update is taking place, the TV remote control cannot be used. A green LED light shows that the Trinitron set is turned on. If the green light appears, but there is no picture, press the TV/VIDEO button and change to a different input source. If a red light blinks on and off, there is a problem with your Trinitron TV. Try turning it on and off or restoring to original factory settings. If this fails to work, contact Sony Customer Support directly.
