How to Compare Bed Sizes

Updated July 19, 2017

Comparing bed sizes is not especially difficult if you take the time to learn the different bed-size classes. Bed sizes are categorised into four categories: single, double, king and super king.

Single

A single bed is the smallest bed size. Single beds are 90 cm (36 inches) wide and 190 cm (75 inches) long. The single bed size is designed to fit into any room and is popular for children.

Double

The double is larger than the single, but smaller than the next two bed sizes. Double beds are 135 cm (54 inches) wide and 190 cm (75 inches) long. They can give a single person a lot of room to work with. There is also room for two people in a double bed, but it might be tight.

King

The second largest bed size is the king. King sized beds are 150 cm (60 inches) wide and 200 cm (80 inches) long. King sized beds are designed to fit two people and are commonly found in master bedrooms.

Super king

The super king is the largest of all bed sizes. A super king sized bed is 180 cm (76 inches) wide and 200 cm (80 inches) long. King sized beds can fit up to three people comfortably.
