With the threats of global warming and pollution looming, a clean planet has become a top priority for many people. While it may seem hard to try and handle environmental issues as an individual, one way that you can help is to contribute to environmental charities. These environmental organisations take donations and dedicate their time and energy to various environmental issues. These issues vary from topics such as rainforest conservation, sustainable markets and conserving ecosystems.
Founded in 1951, the Nature Conservancy devotes its efforts to protecting various ecosystems around the globe. This organisation works in areas such as coral reefs in Australia to the deserts of Africa. Their website states that with the contributions of supporters, they have managed to protect more than 119 million acres of land and 5,000 miles of rivers around the world since being founded. The Nature Conservancy is an accredited charity with the Better Business Bureau Wise Giving Alliance. In addition, this organisation received an A-minus from the American Institute of Philanthropy, marking it as a top-rated charity.
