Hair growth remedies combine ingredients from nature to infuse hair with vitamins, protein and minerals. Some natural hair growth products work directly on the scalp to stimulate hair follicles, which increases circulation resulting in thicker hair growth over time. Many home remedies also require a light scalp massage to help the product sink into the scalp and improve blood flow to the follicles as well.

Amla Hair Oil

Amla is a fruit derived from the Indian gooseberry tree. This nourishing food is high in vitamin C and other nutrients that feed hair, resulting in stronger thicker locks. You can find this treatment at your local health food store or online. Massage 3 tbsp of amla oil into your scalp for five minutes and allow the mixture to sink into your roots for 30 minutes before rinsing.

Eat Biotin Rich Foods

According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, biotin helps improve the health of hair and nails. Foods that are high in biotin are eggs, brewers yeast, Swiss chard, liver, chicken and other meats. Take biotin supplements if you are a vegetarian. Biotin also helps improve energy and stamina.

Olive Oil, Honey and Cinnamon Powder

The combination of olive oil, honey and cinnamon powder nourishes and feeds the scalp in addition to improving circulation. You might feel a slight tingling sensation as the cinnamon sinks into your scalp, but this is a beneficial effect. Combine 1/2 cup of olive oil, 4 tbsp honey and 2 tbsp of cinnamon powder in a bowl. Mix the ingredients together and massage this mixture into your scalp for five minutes. Leave the solution on for 20 minutes and then rinse thoroughly.

Eat Protien Rich Foods

The Science Daily Journal website says protein helps hair growth by strengthening cells responsible for regeneration in the scalp. Eat protein-rich foods on a daily basis such as chicken, buffalo and salmon.

If you are a vegetarian, eat a protein-rich spirulina shake on a daily basis instead. Spirulina is high in protein, vitamins and mother minerals. This super food is a blue-green sea algae found in health food stores. Purchase spirulina in powder form and pour 1 tbsp in your blender along with 1/2 cup of water, one banana and a cup of strawberries. You can also add other fruits if you like.

The Newswire Rockefeller University says that protein controls hair growth in addition to improving how the body responds to stem cells. Protein improves the body's ability to build new hair, skin and nails.
