Celebrate your friendships with a best friends forever party featuring homemade baked goods that your friends will have a blast baking, decorating and eating. Make sure that you purchase all of the ingredients you need before the party so you can enjoy the event instead of rushing to the store for any forgotten ingredients.

Best Friends Cupcakes

Bake up a batch of cupcakes at your party and decorate them to look just like your best friends. Karen Tack and Alan Richardson, writers of the book "Hello, Cupcake!" suggest modifying the standard recipe on a package of cake mix to use an equal amount of buttermilk in place of the water, the same amount of vegetable oil called for and four large eggs instead of the amount called for on the box. This recipe renders sturdy cupcakes less likely to collapse under the weight of your decorations. Frost the cupcakes with frosting tinted to the appropriate skin tone with food colouring and use decorating icing, candies and cereal to add facial features, and hair. Use colourful chocolate candies centred on a dot of white frosting to create your best friends eyes. Cut a mouth from a piece of red fruit leather or taffy rolled flat with a rolling pin. Round cereal renders curly hair while lines of frosting or shoestring liquorice resemble straight hair. Add noses and ears with jelly beans or cereal Os.

Rice Cereal Sculptures

Cover your kitchen table with waxed paper to prepare a no-stick surface for your best friends to create their own rice cereal sculptures. Mix a big batch of rice cereal marshmallow treats and pour the warm mixture onto the centre of the table. Encourage your friends to work fast and build their sculptures before the treats cool and become difficult to mould. Decorate the sculptures with frosting, candy, graham crackers, cereal, dried fruit or other foods.

Best Friends Cookies

Make best friend cookies that look just like the split best friend jewellery charms. Cut rolled sugar cookie dough using cookie cutters large enough to allow you to write "Best Friends" on the baked cookies with frosting. Cut a zig zag line down the centre of each cookie with a knife to divide the cookie into two halves. Bake your cookies according to the recipe directions and wait for them to cool before you begin decorating. Join the cookies together along the cut edges and write "Best Friends" across each cookie so that half of each word is on each cookie. You can also cut the letters from rolled fondant by hand or with alphabet cookie cutters and glue them to the cookies with frosting.
