But while bakeries may be known for top-notch almond croissants or towering wedding cakes, the truth is that a bakery's equipment checklist can be immense, ranging from large items like commercial mixers to dainty fig grinders.

The National Institution for Occupational Safety and Health maintains a thorough checklist of larger mechanical bakery equipment requirements for bakery owners or managers interested in completing a self-inspection to ensure that requirements are met.


It's just not a bakery without an oven. Invest in large, quality ovens to reduce the risk of consistently spoiling products because of technical flaws. Some bakeries choose to install rack ovens, since it's possible to hold multiple baking pans or tins. Depending on personal preference, a bakery might contain a gas or electric oven.

Dough Preparation Equipment

Bakeries should be stocked with mixers, dough dividers and rounders, dough sheets, and presses. Proof boxes provide warm, moist areas encouraging dough to rise.
