Fishing knots are many, and most can be tied without the aid of a tying tool. However, there are a few tools for tying a fishing knot, some to tie a specific knot, and another that is an all-in-one tool designed to tie several different knots.

Half Hitch Tool

A half hitch tool is a short, pencil-shaped metal tube specifically made for fly tying. It has an indented end of different size on each end. With the finished fly in a tying vice, the end of the tool is placed over the hook eye to make a half hitch knot that ties off the thread.

Nail Knot Tool

A nail knot is commonly used to join two lines or leaders of different diameters. However, it can be difficult to tie and the nail knot tool simplifies the process.

Whip Finisher Tool

The whip finish is considered to be one of the most difficult knots to make in fly tying without the aid of a tool. A whip finisher makes it easier. It is a tool used to form and neatly tie off the head on an artificial fly.

Blood Knot Tool

The blood knot is similar to the nail knot and is somewhat difficult to tie. A blood knot tool makes tying the knot easier.

Cinch Tie Knot Tyer

The Cinch Tie knot tyer is an all-in-one tool that can make some 15 different knots.
