Fishing knots are many, and most can be tied without the aid of a tying tool. However, there are a few tools for tying a fishing knot, some to tie a specific knot, and another that is an all-in-one tool designed to tie several different knots.

Half Hitch Tool

A half hitch tool is a short, pencil-shaped metal tube specifically made for fly tying. It has an indented end of different size on each end. With the finished fly in a tying vice, the end of the tool is placed over the hook eye to make a half hitch knot that ties off the thread.
