Harness the power of the wind, or at least wear it on your skin. Whether you are an air sign, a hang glider, a tornado chaser or just someone who loves the feeling of the wind in your hair, you can express the feeling of exhilaration the wind inspires in you with a tattoo. You will find a wide array of choices for body art images of wind.

Swirling Wind Image

Tornado's swirling movements represent a dramatic image of wind power. Depict a circular wind with clouds on your bicep or shoulder as an outward representation of the energy and strength you possess. Ask the tattoo artist to paint clouds surrounding the centre wind spiral to clarify what it portrays.

Wind Face

Old-fashioned children's storybooks often contained images of the wind as a magical character, usually depicted as a man's face puffing a gust of wind out of his mouth, with clouds or wavy air lines for air. If you use your voice a great deal in your work, you might want one of these images to remind you of the importance of proper breathing to support vocal power.

Alchemical Air Symbol

If you participate in earth-based spirituality, you work with the four elements of air, earth, fire and water. For you, the wind is the manifestation of the air element. You can signal your relationship to this element for other pagans to read, while being slightly inscrutable to non-pagans with the ancient alchemical symbol for air. The simple upward pointing triangle with a horizontal line just above its base conveys much to those in the know without revealing anything to outsiders.

Native American Symbol for Wind

Many Native American tribes saw the wind as a powerful living force which could bring cosmic messages to spiritual leaders. Apache, Hopi and Navajo Indians invoked the power of the wind with the symbol of a red diamond, wider than it is tall, against a black background. If part of your heritage, genetic or spiritual, derives from these tribes, you may wish to honour that with a wind symbol tattoo.
