Movie Character Costumes Ideas
Halloween is the perfect time to dress up as your favourite character. (Trick Or Treat image by Infs from

If you need inspiration for this year's Halloween costumes, look no further than your DVD collection. Lots of movie characters lend themselves to fun Halloween costume ideas, and most items can be found at costume shops or maybe even in your own closet. Don't forget accessories and practice a few catchphrases you can use to let people know who you are.

Grease is a musical set in the 1950s. Men can dress like leading man Danny Zuko in blue jeans, a tight white T-shirt and a black leather jacket. Don't forget to pomade your hair and carry a comb in your pocket to fix your pompadour when needed. Women can belong to the coolest group of girls in school, The Pink Ladies. Women of the 1950s typically wore "pedal pushers" (capri type trousers) and button up blouses, ponytails and sneakers. Add a pink shiny jacket and you're ready for the football game or drive-in.

Nightmare Before Christmas

Tim Burton's animated classic is full of costume character ideas. Most costume shops will carry Jack and Sally costumes, or you can get creative and make your own costume. Halloweentown is inhabited with many ghouls such as witches, vampires and even Sandy Claws.

Movie Monsters

Transform yourself into a gruesome movie monster. Freddy Krueger, Michael Myers, Pinhead and Jason are all slasher film kings that make scary Halloween costumes. A mask, the right dirty clothes and a weapon are all you really need. Or, you can go the classic route. A white faced Dracula, woolly Wolfman or hulking Frankenstein are characters that never go out of style. Women can do Bride of Frankenstein or that creepy girl from The Ring.

The X-Men is a popular comic book series that has made the successful transition to the big screen. Characters like Wolverine, Dead Pool, Rogue and Storm are all standout choices for a Halloween costume. Look at your local costume shop to see what is available. This would be fun for a group of people, each one going as a different character from the series.
