Carpet

Carpet is one of the most common types of indoor flooring and can be relatively low in price or can be quite expensive depending on the type and quality. The benefit to carpet is that it is soft and warm compared to harder types of flooring such as hardwood and tile. A disadvantage is that it can be more difficult to keep clean and to remove stains compared to other types of flooring. The quality of carpet should largely be dependent on the traffic of that area. For example, carpet will generally hold up better in a bedroom than in a busy family room.

Ceramic Tile

Ceramic tile is one of the most durable types of indoor flooring. It does well in high traffic areas and places where there is high moisture, making it a popular choice for bathroom and kitchens. It is one of the more expensive options in regards to flooring types but requires very little overall maintenance.

Laminate

Laminate is a wonderful choice for indoor flooring mainly due to its versatility. It is designed to resemble hardwood and comes in various colours and sizes. It works great in living rooms, bedrooms and dining rooms and can sometimes even be used in kitchens. It is extremely durable and has a relatively low need for maintenance. The overall cost is moderate. Installation is relatively simple and can often be done by the homeowner.

Modular Decking Tiles

Modular decking tiles can cover outdoor decks. They are wooden tiles that have a plastic backing and are designed so that they can easily snap together. They generally cost less than traditional wooden decking. They are weather resistant and can be placed in areas of high traffic that are fully exposed to the elements. One of the most significant advantages of using this type of flooring is the simple installation, which can often be accomplished within hours by the homeowner.

Outdoor Carpet

Outdoor carpet is similar to indoor carpet in respect to quality and price. Depending on the grade and the primary purpose it will serve, it can be inexpensive or quite costly. Modern outdoor carpet can be aesthetically pleasing and is often used around pools and in garages. Some people choose to use outdoor carpet inside their homes because of its exceptional durability.

Outdoor Stone

Many people choose stone flooring outdoors because of its beauty and durability. Although it is generally one of the more expensive choices, it can last many years and is often used for pool decks, patios, entryways and walkways.
