According to Encarta Online Dictionary, a capital expenditure involves spending on business assets or fixed assets like buildings. Capital expenditures may include the purchase of major equipment, facility construction or renovation or major technology upgrades. Foundations that provide capital grants to support capital expenditures often have complex application and proposal requirements that may include submission of quotes, architectural plans and detailed need analyses.

PETCO Foundation

The PETCO Foundation provides capital grants to support the construction of new buildings, building repairs, purchase of vehicles or equipment and other capital expenditures. The foundation provides grants to local animal welfare organisations nationwide. Grant applicants must create an account on the foundation website and submit an online letter of inquiry. The foundation reviews letters of inquiry in eight to 12 weeks, after which it mails checks to organisations approved for grants.

The council encourages applicants to read the application guidelines and attend the grant application workshops. The council provides an online application.
