Contrary to its name, ringworm is actually a fungus. This fungus infests humans and animals such as cats. Ringworm feeds on the top, dead layers of skin, invading hair follicles and resulting in skin lesions and hair loss. Your veterinarian can prescribe strong medication to treat ringworm in your cat. You can also try using natural remedies like apple cider vinegar, a natural disinfectant.

Adding 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar to a sink or small tub full of warm water creates a bath that kills ringworm on your cat's body. Your cat should soak in the bath for 10 minutes. Since most cats dislike getting wet and taking a bath, it is helpful to have an assistant when trying this method.

You can also bathe your cat as you normally would and give your cat an apple cider vinegar rinse. The rinse acts as a disinfecting alternative medicine that kills the ringworm fungus as well as any bacteria that have entered the skin lesions. Mix one part vinegar to three parts lukewarm water and pour the mixture over your cat after bathing.

Topical Application

Pour some apple cider vinegar onto a clean cotton ball or cotton pad, then gently dab the ball/pad onto any areas of your cat's skin affected by ringworm. The vinegar kills any ringworm fungus and helps dry up any open sores left behind by the condition.

Adding 1 tsp apple cider vinegar to your cat's drinking water helps your cat fight ringworm from the inside out, by changing the acidity of your cat's skin and making your cat's body more efficient at fighting off infections. This method also helps fight off other illness such as respiratory infections and urinary tract infections.
