Ear antibiotics for dogs

Updated July 20, 2017

Dogs often get ear infections or ear mites that require the use of antibiotics. Signs of ear disease include odour, incessant scratching, redness and shaking or tilting of the head. The antibiotics will most likely require a prescription, which means a trip to the doctor's office. Prolonged uses of antibiotics is not advised because it can weaken a dog's immune system. However, if used properly, the antibiotics should work within a few days to a week to rid the dog of his infection.
