Your 10-year-old is having a party, and you want to come up with some party ideas and games that will keep all the children happy. Little kid games won't suffice anymore since this age group is sensitive about growing up, but they still love to run around and have fun. There are many games that you can play indoors and outdoors to keep the children smiling.

Relay Races

Have some fun with relay races that include adults and kids. During these races, everyone takes turns doing different events. Separate into competing teams and determine who is going to do what on a specific course. The course can include activities such as jumping through rubber tires, picking up a skipping rope and jumping a certain number of times, running around a tree a certain number of times and shooting a basketball through a hoop. Determine the order of the activities and send each team member to their event. On the word "Go," the teams begin with the first event. When the first team member is done with his event, he picks up an item such as a toilet paper roll and passes it on to the next team member. The first team to complete all the events, in order, wins.

The Knot Game

The knot game is an entertaining way for children to interact with each other at a party. They can do this game indoors or outdoors. Have the children stand in a circle, and put their left hands behind their backs. Instruct them to grasp the hand of someone else. They should not select a person next to them. Once they are all grabbing somebody's hand, instruct them to reach out with their left hand and grab someone else's free hand. This time, they should avoid grabbing the hands of people next to them as well as the person whose hand they are already holding in their right hand. Once everybody has grabbed someone else's hands, instruct the children to try to unknot themselves. They are not allowed to let go of each other's hands. However, they are allowed to twist their hands inside someone else's. If someone doesn't want to be part of the group, you can assign them the task of overseer. This person can stand on a chair to get an overview of the knot, and help instruct the others on how to move to unknot themselves.

Tween Drama

Get ready for some acting when you play the drama bag game with your 10-year-olds. Place five different types of items in a shopping bag. Use several bags depending on your group size. Every bag should have different items inside it. Items could include a party favour, a doll or a toothpick. Divide the 10-year-olds into teams, and hand each team a bag. Send each team to a different part of the room or separate rooms for planning. Tell them they have 15 minutes to create a skit using every single item in their bag. This skit could be a song, a commercial or a story. After the 15-minute time period is up, gather together and take turns performing.
