Easy Breakfast Ideas for Large Groups

Typical breakfast fare such as fried eggs or waffles may be difficult to make in enough quantity to feed breakfast to a large group. The key to a large group breakfast is to pick something to make in a large container and then divide up into plates and bowls. That way, you just make one item on a large scale instead of worrying about making each person a breakfast.

    Strata or Quiche

Baked casseroles make cooking breakfast for a large group especially easy because you can make them ahead of time and bake them for only an hour in the morning before serving them. Quiche has a pie crust, and strata includes cubes of white bread, but otherwise you can make both dishes in a variety of flavour profiles. Common ingredients include meat, cheese, vegetables and eggs, but you can experiment and make a few kinds for serving a large group.

    Oatmeal Bar

Although oatmeal by itself does not make a particularly complete breakfast, it is inexpensive and easy to prepare in a large batch. By providing a variety of optional toppings on the side, you can allow members of the large group to have oatmeal how they like it. Nuts and seeds, dried fruit, chopped fresh fruit, peanut butter, graham crackers, yoghurt, milk and brown sugar are all good toppings to prepare beforehand and include in the oatmeal bar.

    Shredded Hash Browns

Shredded hash browns with some special additions make an easy one-pan breakfast for a large group. Purchase frozen hash brown potatoes to save time and fry them with ingredients such as onions, mushrooms, cheese, bell peppers, pieces of meat, banana peppers and tomatoes.

    Traditional Eggs and Meat

With some modifications, you can actually make a fairly traditional breakfast for a large group. One key element is to bake the meat so you do not have to tend it on the stove. You can cook both sausages and bacon in the oven in large batches. The other key element is to make scrambled eggs instead of individually fried eggs. Speed up the process by cracking the eggs into a bowl the night before and seasoning them. Serve toast and fresh whole fruit such as apples, oranges and bananas on the side.
