A girl's bedroom is a special place where a girl can simply be herself. As much as possible, this room should be a reflection of who she is and what she likes. To help organise this personal space, a cork bulletin board is a great way to hold photographs and other notes and mementos. This cork board can contain personal artefacts, while functioning as an attractive accessory in the girl's room.

Fabric Boards

For an easy way to add interest to an ordinary cork board, try adding your favourite print of fabric. To add the fabric to the board, cut a piece to a size that is approximately 1/2 inch longer than the cork size on all sides. Fold your fabric under that extra 1/2 inch and press flat with an iron. Position your fabric in place over the cork, and staple in place with a staple gun. To hide your staples, hot glue ribbon trim around all edges.

Collage Cork Board

A great way to personalise a cork board is to make it into a fun and feminine collage. This board can then function as a piece of wall art all on its own if you don't want to pin other materials to it. Cut out favourite photographs, magazine clippings, internet printouts and any other decorative materials and position on your board. You can simply pin this in place to cover the cork, or glue in place with hot glue.

Painted Board

Get creative by adding a hand-painted touch to your cork board. Choose water-based paints, such as acrylics or tempera to apply a base coat and to add your personal artwork. If you are not comfortable free-handing your designs, try using a stencil or trace a printed image. Before you begin painting, you might want to sketch out your design with a pencil.

Decorative Frames

To turn your cork board into a work of art, try adding a decorative frame. You can either create one with pieces of wood, a router and a mitre box. Or, you can repurpose an old frame and place your cork material inside. Consider adding a personal touch to the frame with paints, glitter and gemstones for a girlie touch.
