Shadowboxes are an alternative to traditional scrapbooks, and are a creative way to store and archive your keepsakes. A seashell themed shadowbox can be used to hold memorable keepsakes from a honeymoon, a vacation, or a simple day trip to the beach. Seashell shadowboxes are easy to make using basic craft supplies and can be used as a one-of-a-kind piece of home decor.

Découpage Seashell Shadowbox
A découpage seashell shadowbox is a very simple craft project using paper. To create a seashell shadowbox you will need an unfinished wooden shadowbox, masking tape, blue acrylic paint, seashell paper cutouts, scissors, découpage glue, a foam brush and paintbrushes. Use the masking tape to line the edges of the glass on top of the shadowbox. Paint the entire outside surface and interior of the shadowbox blue. Allow the paint to dry before proceeding and remove the masking tape. Use the foam brush to apply a thin coast of découpage glue to the back of each seashell paper cutout. Adhere the cutouts onto the shadowbox and smooth out any creases or wrinkles using your fingers. Apply a coat of découpage glue over the top of each seashell cutout. After the glue is dry, apply one more coat of découpage glue over the cutouts to seal them permanently to the shadowbox. Fill the box with any keepsakes you choose.
Photographic Seashell Shadowbox
Use your favourite photos from the beach to decorate a plain wooden shadowbox. You will need an unfinished wooden shadowbox, photographs from the beach, seashell stickers, blue peel-and-stick felt, scissors and glue. Glue the photographs to the shadowbox so that the entire outside of the shadowbox is covered. Use the scissor to crop photographs in order to make everything fit. Remove the shadowbox lid and cut five strips of peel-and-stick felt that are equal to the measurements of the sides and bottom of the box. Remove the protective backing from the peel-and-stick felt and adhere each piece to the inside of the shadowbox. Add seashell stickers to the outside of the box for a decorative touch.
