Chocolate Valentine Gifts for Him
Chocolate doesn't have to come in a heart to tell him "I love you" on Valentine's Day. (sweet chocolate heart image by Maria Brzostowska from

Almost everyone likes chocolate. Fortunately, it's a confection that lends itself well to being made into many different gastronomical delights that come in infinite shapes and sizes. The tradition of a heart-shaped box of chocolates as a gift to a sweetheart on Valentine's day has always been gender neutral, but chocolate gifts can be very male-interest specific. For men who like being stereotyped as motor heads, or aeroplane freaks, or big bad biker dudes there's a chocolate Valentine for that. Men who just want to indulge in luscious and decadent theme-free chocolate delicacies have no reason to be disappointed either.

Chocolate Novelty Items

This category is wide open for G- to R-plus-rated chocoholics. For the fisherman there are charming fish of white and dark, sometimes decorated with sugar sparkles. From amphibians to farm animals there are chocolate candy collections to suit any man's interests or hobbies. Hunters may get a kick out of a box of chocolate bullets, and tough guys might even enjoy a chocolate hand grenade. A man with a medical bent should really enjoy a chocolate heart that looks like the real thing. Or bring out the geek in him with a chocolate calculator or keyboard. There are even entire train sets made of... chocolate. Don't forget the surprise eggs---even though they are made with Easter in mind--most men would like to crack open a large chocolate egg filled with chocolate dinosaurs.

Chocolates for the Car Lover

This category is a great deal of fun because some chocolate makers have taken great pains to replicate some pretty fantastic cars to scale: Volkswagens, Formula racing machines, even Army Jeeps and the Bat-mobile. Chocolate car sets are often foil wrapped and look very much like edible Matchbox car models. An ambitious cake maker could create a very special and personal Valentine of a chocolate cake decorated with a liquorice rope racetrack rife with brightly foiled chocolate race cars.

Aeronautical Chocolate Valentines

The boy in him might even run around the room making aeroplane noises while flying a chocolate jet on a stick. He might also enjoy keeping the space shuttle going by tossing milk chocolate shuttle replicas around. If he was in the military a chocolate aircraft carrier cake with dozens of milk chocolate, foil covered planes on the flight deck would be a very romantic way to recognise and appreciate his service. For a favourite fan of air travel it wouldn't be difficult to make a half-globe chocolate cake iced in green and blue for Earth's land masses and ocean, and fly these same colourful chocolate planes around it supported by pickup sticks.

For Biker Dude Sweethearts

It seems the chocolate motorcycle craze started as a way for the chocolate Easter bunny to arrive Easter morning; many chocolate bikes are bunny-fied. Nevertheless there are milk chocolates shaped like World War II military bikes, "crotch rockets," Harley Davidsons and even scooters. Custom chocolates can be ordered---for a pretty high price---that are practically exact scale models of a real favourite bike with him and his sweetheart on-board. A chocolate heart cake with a model motorcycle topper is also a great way to say "I love you" to a motorcycle fan.

Last but Not Least: Chocolate Cakes

From cheesecake to German chocolate, mousse cake to chocolate cupcakes there is no cake that can't be decorated with a message of love. Any man who loves chocolate is happy to have a special desert chosen or made especially for him buy someone who knows and appreciates what he likes.
