Jean Pocket Purse

A jean pocket purse is a cheap, functional gift for a teen friend. Materials needed are a needle and thread, glitter glue and other accessories like patches or lace. Cut out the back pocket of an old pair of jeans. Then cut out another piece of jeans material to fit on the back of the pocket. Sew the front and the back together to make a purse, by hand or with a sewing machine. Glue or sew lace and other accessories on the purse.

Cut out a 12-inch-long strip of jeans material to make the handle. Bend it in a loop and sew each end of the handle onto the sides of the purse.

A scrapbook is an affordable gift ideal for teen friends. If you plan on making one, some advance preparation is needed. Gather group photos of you and your friends, and maybe photos of your friend alone or with her siblings. Use plain or pattered card stock as your background and arrange two to three photos on each page.

Decorate the pages with stickers or embellishments such as ribbons or charms. If the book is for a young man, include pictures and decorations that highlight his interests. For instance, if he loves sports, include soccer stickers and photos of him playing his favourite sport.

Decorative Dried Herbs in Oil

A decorative bottle filled with colourful flowers and herbs is ideal for a teen who loves home decor pieces. Materials needed are dried flowers and herbs along with olive oil and a bottle with a cork. You can find these items at your local craft store or gather them outside. If you cannot find real flowers, use silk flowers.

Fill the bottle with herbs and flowers and then pour in the oil. Put the cork in the top of the bottle and tie a ribbon around the neck.
