Cleaning hard floors is easy when you have the right equipment. Manufacturers have a plethora of machines available to clean everything from high-end residential tile and grout to commercial grade warehouse concrete floors. No doubt, there is a machine available to handle the cleaning needs of your floors.

The Standard Floor Machine

The standard floor machine, also known as a floor buffer or swing machine, is the most versatile floor cleaning machine. With the right attachment, these machines can clean any type of hard floor.

To clean vinyl tiles, typically found in supermarkets and hospital corridors, attach a red or white buffing pad. For a complete removal of the tiles' wax coating, attach a black stripping pad. Manufacturer's make a variety of pads that make even polishing and honing marble and granite floors possible.

If you have wood floors at your facility, try using a standard floor machine with a sanding screen before you lug out the drum sander to touch up scratches in the floor's finish.

Tile and grout cleaning is possible with these machines by using a grit brush with multiple length bristles.

Concrete floors can be cleaned and polished with the use of a diamond grit scraping block.

Standard floor machines are as common to find in a janitor's closet as a mop or broom. Given their portable nature, these machines are a wise investment for the professional cleaning service, since they allow the user to clean so many surfaces.

Auto Scrubbers

Whether as a walk behind or ride on, a self-contained auto scrubbing floor machine does it all in one pass: wash, scrub and dry the floor.

These units release a cleaning solution that is then scrubbed over the floor. The machines use either a cylindrical brush or a rotary pad, similar to a standard floor machine. The final stage is a squeegee connected to a powerful vacuum motor that removes dirt, debris and cleaning solution from the floor.

The all-in-one units run the gamut from electric motors powered via a wire or battery to propane engines that pack lots of cleaning power.

Due to the size and weight of self-contained machines, these are best suited as dedicated units stored on the premises where needed: such as a school or warehouse.

Turbo Grout Tool

Known as a turbo tool because of its fast cleaning speed, this is the tool of choice of professional tile and grout cleaners. The tool connects to high powered carpet cleaning machines, such as truck mounts or portables with 1200 psi or higher water pumps.

The tool is comprised of a round head connected to a standard carpet cleaning vacuum wand. Inside the head is a spinning rod with two spray nozzles. Water is funnelled through the two spray jets with enough force to blast dirt away from floors, including the soil trapped in porous grout.

The tool is highly portable and can be used to clean all kinds of synthetic and natural hard tiles, such as marble and concrete floors.
