For men who are looking for ways to help break the ice in fellowship groups, many options allow men to have a good time together while also glorifying their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Whether it a game for the next men's pancake breakfast or just a pre-Bible study activity, these ideas will help men come together in Christian fellowship to build relationships with each other.

Sports

Sports are a great way to become acquainted with Christian brothers, which is why many churches have an annual "turkey bowl" around Thanksgiving time. But one sport that men of all skill levels and ages can play together is volleyball. If weather is poor, go to a local gym and rent a volleyball court for the evening. But if it's a nice day, head to a beach or park for sand volleyball. Remind the group to wear conservative attire if men and women are playing together. After this light competition and team-building game, the group should then be ready to confidently be open to study the Word together.

Table Games

Board games or cards don't require a lot of creativity, and sometimes that is exactly what a man needs when it comes to an icebreaker activity. If you play cards with Christian men, don't gamble, because it is possible that there could be weaker brothers in the fellowship who will have personal convictions if money is ever put up. Besides, fellowship games should be about focusing one's faith in Jesus, not some game of chance. Board games are more popular with young adults. There's the classic game of Risk and Settlers of Catan, but at Christian bookstores you can buy Christian games such as Bible Baseball, Outburst: Bible Edition and Apples to Apples: Bible Edition.

Video Games

For the more liberal Christian men, having a video game party is one of the contemporary ways of spending quality time in fellowship. Wii, "Guitar Hero," "Rock Band" and Xbox 360 are popular choices. However, many of these games do not portray Christian messages. But most men loosen up by playing video games, so this is a help for guys who might not naturally open up before they dive into a time of Bible study or Christian fellowship. Try to avoid overtly sinful games if possible (for example: "Grand Theft Auto"). There is also a Christian version of "Rock Band" called "JAMband." Video games shouldn't be the focus of Christian fellowship anyway, merely a supplement.
