Darth Maul Face Painting Ideas
Red make-up should be used as the base for the original look. (make-up image by nutech21 from Fotolia.com)

Darth Maul is the main villain in Star Wars: The Phantom Menace and has one of the most easily-imitated faces in the Star Wars universe. Darth Maul's character got tattoos all over his body and face, each representing the trials that he endured becoming a vicious Sith lord. Creating your own versions of this mighty Sith lord with face paint is only limited by your imagination.

Original Make-up

Create Darth Maul's signature look using red face paint as the base on your face. Use an image of Darth Maul as your inspiration and paint black line patterns with face paint to copy the look. Use a make-up sponge to apply the red and the initial black face-paint. Use a small paint brush to smooth the edges of the black or a black face-paint marker. These items can be found at a Halloween shop or a party supply store.

Alternate Colors

Darth Maul's face is black and red, but you can create your own version of Darth Maul by using different colours, like blue and green as the base. Other humanoids of his species are known to have different hues on their bodies. The black lines should still be black, but the base colour can be anything you'd like.

Alternate Markings

Darth Maul's markings are done all over his face with a specific purpose of symbolising events and trials he went through. Create your own black markings to symbolise the trials and events you've been through instead of replicating Darth Maul's look exactly. This will give you the appearance of Darth Maul, with the addition of your own personal touch.

Zombie Darth Maul

With Darth Maul's death at the end of Star Wars: The Phantom Menace, a zombie version of this Sith lord would be appropriate for any Halloween costume party. Use muted red and grey instead of vibrant red and black. Add fake blood and dirt to your face so it looks like you crawled out of the ground.

Clown Maul

To create a more upbeat and comical Darth Maul, create a clown version. Use red as your base, but instead of signature black markings, use black face paint to draw a clown face. A black circle on your nose and a black smile around your mouth will get the Darth Maul and clown crossover theme across. Complete the look with a black clown wig.
