Savannah College of Art and Design: Animation Program

The computer animation program at Savannah College of Art and Design's School of Film, Digital Media and Performing Arts offers courses of study toward both undergraduate and graduate degrees. Undergraduates at Savannah College of Art and Design's Atlanta, Hong Kong and Savannah locations can work toward a professional bachelor of fine arts (BFA) degree in animation. Graduate students at the Atlanta and Savannah locations can work toward a master of arts (MA) or master of fine arts (MFA) degree in animation. These programs include courses and independent projects in animation, history of animation, character design and computer modelling. Ringling College of Art and Design: Computer Animation

The Ringling College of Art and Design offers a four-year undergraduate degree program in computer animation that prepares students for professional careers in the animation industry. Students study modelling, lighting, motion, sound and visual storytelling. All students must also complete a senior thesis project. Notable Ringling student Bevin Carnes recently won an Academy Award for a short animated film she produced in her final year at the school. The Ringling College of Art and Design was ranked among the world's top 20 animation colleges by "3D World" magazine in 2007; it was the highest ranked among schools in the U.S.

University of Southern California: Division of Animation and Digital Arts

The University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts contains the John C. Hench Division of Animation and Digital Arts. The school offers bachelor of arts (BA), master of fine arts (MFA) and doctor of philosophy (PhD) degrees in animation with an emphasis on experimentation. Alumni of the division's MFA program include Claudia Spinelli, executive producer of Nickelodeon Studios, Valerie LaPointe, a PIXAR animator, and Vicki Mendoza, an animator for "South Park." The program helps BA and MFA students get internships with Sony Pictures Imageworks, PIXAR, Disney, Nickelodeon Animation Studios and other prominent organisations in the animation industry. The University of Southern California was ranked among the world's top 20 animation colleges by "3D World" magazine in 2007.
