When you have a sports fan for a child, decorating the bedroom can be a challenge. One way to decorate the room is by using paint ideas for a sport-themed bedroom. Through the use of paint, you can create a bedroom that will not only appeal to your sports-mad child but be stylish as well.

One paint idea is to paint the bedroom in the colours of the child's favourite team. For example, if the favourite team is the Boston Red Sox, you can use the colours of the uniform, which are white, red, and a subtle stripe of blue. The walls can be painted white, while the moulding can be painted red outlined with blue. On the back of the door, you can paint the number of the child's favourite player in red, outlined with blue.
If your child prefers rugby, paint the walls in the same coloured stripes as those worn by his favourite team. Sites like World Rugby (see Resources) can be helpful, for it has a wide range of rugby jerseys worn by teams around the world.
If your child likes football, you can paint goalposts on either end of the bedroom with stands all the way around (you could even fill with spectators). If your child likes swimming, paint a diving platform or diving blocks, or even paint the walls and ceiling so it looks like the entire room is in the inside of the pool.
If you don't wish to paint the entire room with stripes or murals, you can do more subtle sport-themed decoration with paint such as utilising borders. These borders can be any width and can be along the top of the walls, at chair-rail height or a combination of both. These borders can feature the colours of the favourite teams, repeating motifs such as baseballs, bats and gloves or rugby balls of various colours, footballs or other iconic images relating to the child's favourite sports.
More Than One Sport
If your child likes more than one sport, you can incorporate this into your painting ideas. For example, if your child likes a hockey team and a basket ball team, you can alternate the walls, painting one with the colours of one team, and another wall with another. Painting silhouettes of the players of the various sports can add to the overall design.
