"Escape the Room" is the first in a series of three free flash games created by Andrew Gibson. As in most games of this genre, there is no plot--you are trapped in a locked room, and your goal is to search the area for items you can use to facilitate your escape. Some of the locations and items in "Escape the Room" only serve as decoys to throw you off the trail.

When the game begins, you're facing the door through out of which you'll eventually escape. The area to the right includes a red locked box, a chest of drawers and a bookshelf. The middle shelf is the only one that's unlocked, and it contains a small battery. Bring the battery to the next area to the right, which has a cut wire running vertically along the left of the room and a small machine on a shelf. By clicking to the right of the machine, the battery can be inserted. With the device fully powered, you can click on it to receive a screwdriver.
The Locked Box
In the bedroom, which is two areas to the right of the one where you found the screwdriver, a small spot appears on the upper-right corner of the yellow pillow. Click on this spot until you receive a key.
Return to the room with the locked red box, which is now three areas to the left. The screwdriver will allow you to remove the box from the shelf, and the key will allow you to open it. A dull knife will be added to your inventory.
The First "Click"
Two scenes to the left of your location, you'll see a silver box on the wall with a note that reads "electromagnetically locked" and find a sheet of aluminium foil on the floor. The foil is used on the blade to sharpen it.
Back in the room where you obtained the red box, the now-sharp knife can be used to cut the spine of the green book on the shelf, earning you a pair of tweezers. In the area two to the right from here, there's a table with a flower pot and a stick-figure portrait on the wall. If you look closely, the figure's right eye appears to be red. By zooming in and using the tweezers, you'll be able to remove the red object. The game will tell you that you've heard a "click" sound.
The Second "Click"
In this same room, a roll of duct tape is fastened beneath the table. Click in the area below the table's surface near the left leg to retrieve it. Travel to the area to the left and use the duct tape to repair the severed wire. You'll be told of a second "click."
The Master Key
Return to the area where you picked up the foil, which is three scenes to the left. The formerly locked box can now be opened, and the master key is inside. The exit is one scene to the right, and the master key can be used to unlock the door and win the game.
