While games like “Grand Theft Auto” and “Saints Row” put you at odds with law enforcement, there are games for the Xbox 360 that puts you in the shoes of the men and women who protect cities from crime. These games range from adventure titles revolving around solving crimes to action games where a gun or car is your only partner.

Condemned: Criminal Origins

As part of the police's Special Crimes Unit, your goal in “Condemned: Criminal Origins” is to track a serial killer who seeks to cause mass panic in the streets. Developed by Monolith Productions and released in November of 2005, the game plays as a first person shooter that incorporates crime scene investigating elements. Players use tools such as a gas spectrometer and digital camera to capture evidence while using guns and melee attacks to take out enemies.

Set in the future, “Crackdown” players assume the role of a newly enhanced police officer who uses his special abilities to take out major crime leaders throughout the city. Similar to “Grand Theft Auto” players are able to travel freely around the environment using a variety of weapons and vehicles to complete their objectives. Players can team up with a friend in coop mode in which each player can freely explore the same game space. “Crackdown” was released in February of 2007.
