If you enjoy listening to music, making phone calls or doing any other activity that requires high sound quality on your computer, chances are you want to know what are the best 2.1 multimedia speakers on the market. Consumer Search created a list of the top 2.1 multimedia speakers based on customer and professional reviews.

Logitech Z-4

Computer peripheral manufacturer Logitech sells a three-piece 2.1 multimedia speaker set. Two satellite speakers plus a subwoofer give the speaker set a decent range. Logitech's Z-4 speakers are among the less expensive sets on the market, but they deliver distortion-free sound at high volumes and clear sound all around. While the Z-4 speakers may not be the best for large rooms, they are certainly powerful enough for smaller spaces. The estimated cost of the speaker set is £42 as of March 2010.

Audioengine 2

Audioengine's 2.1 multimedia speaker set features only two speakers and no subwoofer. Still, users claim the bass response on the speakers compares with larger sets with a subwoofer. Audioengine stands behind its product with a three-year warranty, the longest warranty out of any 2.1 multimedia speakers on the market in 2009. At an estimated price of £130, the Audioengine 2 speakers are more expensive than most of the competition, but reviews from and others claim the cost is well worth the quality.

Axiom Audiobyte

Axiom sells the Audiobyte 2 satellite speaker 2.1 multimedia speaker set with the option of a separately purchased subwoofer. An amplifier is packaged with the two satellite speakers, sending 55 watts to each speaker for increased power. The optional subwoofer has been described as reserved yet producing "tight" bass (according to's review). Users have complained that the amplifier, which measures 5 inches by 5 inches by 18 inches, cannot be hidden away since the speakers' volume control is placed on the amplifier. The estimated price of Axiom's speaker set is £227 with the subwoofer being estimated at an additional £117.
