Hot pink is a favourite decor colour for girls of any age. As a girl grows up, she may like her hot pink room even throughout her teenage years. Adult men and women may choose hot pink decor for their office or guest bedroom. Whatever the purpose, decorate your hot pink room to add whimsy and comfort to the overall design.

Paint Ideas

While hot pink walls add brightness and an energetic feeling to a room, the bright colour can be harsh. Instead, paint the colours in two shades of pink. Paint two opposite walls the hot pink shade of your choice. Paint the other two walls a lighter, muted shade of pink. For an unusual paint job, paint the muted pink in stripes over the hot pink paint colour. Produce crisp paint lines using painter's masking tape.

Accent Colors

Though most of the items in your room will be coloured in hot pink, break up the colour with accents in other colours. Light green is pink's complementary colour. Add accents with green throw pillows, lamps and rugs. Yellow and brown also go well with hot pink. Use one or more of these accent colours in the hot pink room. White is also a good accent colour to choose for a hot pink room if you want to limit the amount of bright colours that compete with the pink.

Wall Decorations

Add wall decorations to your hot pink room to display your personality. Hang a hot pink, green, yellow or brown clock on the wall so you're always on time. Hang photo frames and paintings from decorative hooks with lacy ribbon. Install a wall-hung shelf, and set out trinkets, candles and small items that mean a lot to you. If you're using the room as an office or as the bedroom of a child or teenager, hang a message board on the walls. Tack up pictures, reminders and important invitations on the board so you don't forget appointments and events.

Furniture

The furniture in your hot pink room should match the feeling you're trying to convey. Use bed linens with a similar colour scheme. Paint wooden chairs and dressers to go well with your hot pink room, whether in pink or in one of your accent colours. Cover the top of a desk with patterned fabric that goes well with the overall design.

Flowers

Real flowers and plants bring nature and fresh scents to the hot pink room. Choose pink flowers with bright green leaves. Roses, lilies, hydrangea, freesia and peonies all come in hot pink varieties. Bunch the flowers and leaves in a white vase. Place vases of flowers on bedside tables, desks and dressers.
