A Hollywood theme works well for all sorts of parties. Throwing an ultra-swanky and exclusive Hollywood themed party doesn't have to cost you a fortune. In fact, there are lots of things you can do for free with items commonly found around your home.
Make movie ticket invitations. Use a word processing program or design program on the computer to design a mock movie ticket. Print these on card stock and bend an edge so it looks like there's a perforated mark. Make star-shaped invitations out of construction paper and card stock for all the "stars" you'll be inviting. Welcome guests to dress up like celebrities.
Famous One-Liners Game
Before the party, write down some famous one-liners from movies. Write one line per notecard. Bring everyone together and read each notecard. The first person to name the movie aloud get a point. For an extra point, they can name the actor. For another point they can name the character who said the quote. Have one person keep track of points. Whoever has the most points at the end of the game wins.
Make stars out of construction paper and attach to strings. Hang from doorways, ceiling fans and chandeliers. Cut out empty film strip shapes from black construction paper. Insert photos of friends and family and post on the walls or make into coasters and placemats. Set DVD boxes on tables for display.
Play some of your favourite films. Or give the night a theme such as "Best of Sci-Fi" or "Hitchcock Classics." Make some popcorn and let the movie night begin.
Ask some friends, family members or neighbours to act as paparazzi as guests arrive. Have them stand around the entrance and take photos and ask questions of each guest just as the paparazzi would on the red carpet.
Make miniature Oscar trophies out of clay. Carve messages for what the award is for, such as "Most Correct Answers," "Best Costume" and "Best Speech." Spray with gold paint once dry. Use plaster to make Walk of Fame handprints for each of your guests during the party and send home as a favour. Print out the paparazzi photos and give each guest one of themselves.
