"First Blood"--popularly referred to as "Rambo"--is a 1982 action movie starring Sylvester Stallone. Stallone plays former Vietnam veteran, John Rambo, who is on the run from the law after a misunderstanding. The character of Rambo is a popular '80s icon. To make a Rambo Halloween costume, you'll need a few key items--including a lot of "dirt."

Hair

Hair for a Rambo costume should be similar to a 1970s hairstyle. A dark, nearly-black shaggy mullet wig is a good choice for this costume, however the wig may have to be cut and altered slightly to make it match Rambo's look. The hair should be longer and falling around the face, gelled or greased with a pomade to make it look slightly shiny.

Clothing

Clothing for a Rambo costume should be modelled after a veteran of war. You can use camouflage trousers or a pair of olive, dark brown or black trousers with pockets. The shirt should be a tight, tank top style undershirt for men in black, dark brown or green. Rambo had very chiselled arm muscles, so the costume can be taken one step further with a "muscle" suit worn underneath. This type of shirt can be found at a costume store.

Accessories

The accessories for the Rambo costume are what make the outfit complete. Tie a black headband around the forehead, underneath the fringe of the hair or wig. Drape a black toy machine gun and toy ammo belts over each arm. Finally, smear black war paint under the eyes and across the forehead, and smear light brown body paint ("dirt") over the arms, face and clothing.
