Clenbuterol is a drug that has gained popularity in recent years. It has been mentioned in magazines and celebrity news pieces as a weight loss drug used by the Hollywood elite. Thus, this has led to interest from non-celebrity women that hope to look like their favourite stars. Per the U.S. Department of Justice, clenbuterol is not approved for human consumption in the United States. It's only approved as a bronchodilator in horses. Clenbuterol has also gained popularity among female athletes, more so than male athletes, as it does not cause the same side effects that are caused by steroids, namely unwanted hair growth and deepening of the voice. However, some also combine clenbuterol with steroids and growth hormones. The side effects that are associated with clenbuterol are varied. The side effects seem to affect men and women similarly.

High Blood Pressure

One side effect of clenbuterol in women is increased chance of high blood pressure. The side effects of clenbuterol mimic those of amphetamines. As it acts as a stimulant, it increases the heartbeat, which leads to a rise in blood pressure. This can cause acute cardiovascular distress in women. If you already suffer from high blood pressure, clenbuterol could prove to be deadly.

Muscle Cramps

Muscle cramps are another common side effect for women taking clenbuterol. The reason is that it depletes the body of amino acids, while also increasing the chance of becoming dehydrated. Taurine is the amino acid that is often most depleted in women by the use of clenbuterol. Taurine is also responsible for keeping the nerves in the body from being over-reactive..

Excessive Sweating

Just as with any drug that affects the central nervous system, clenbuterol can cause women to experience excessive sweating. This type of side effect is common with any type of stimulant use. The increase in sweating may be more intense for women during certain times in their hormonal cycle.

Just as with many of the other side effects caused by clenbuterol, insomnia is common due to this drug behaving like a stimulant. This side effect is increased if you consume or ingest copious amounts of caffeine. Women are often vulnerable to insomnia as well due to variations in their hormonal cycles. You may be able to prevent this by reducing your dose or taking it at a different time of day, but as this drug is not approved for U.S. consumption, there are no conclusive studies on this topic.
