A string of beads has many creative uses. Bead strings come in many lengths, with some as long as 36 feet and others as short as 6 inches. Beads come in every colour, shape and size imaginable, so it is not hard to find a string to suit your needs. As a string, the beads can be used for home decorating or other craft projects.

Decorate a Greeting Card

Glue the beads to the edges of the front cover of a greeting card for an elegant, personal touch. If the string of beads is pearl-like, gluing them to the front of wedding invitations will make them more eye-catching.

Make a Ponytail Holder

Tie the string of beads around the elastic holding a ponytail for a more finished look. The beads also could be glued to a metal barrette.

Decorate a Photo Frame

Glue the string of beads to the front of a photo frame, following the square shape. This is especially nice for wedding pictures or pictures of little girls in pretty dresses.

Make a Curtain Tieback

Pull the curtains back to the curtain hook on the wall, then wrap the string of beads around the curtain, tying a bow with the beads. Hook the beads through the curtain hook to keep the curtains held. If they do not stay easily, a small piece of yarn can wrap around the beads and the hook to tie them together.

Decorate a Shirt Collar

Use fabric glue to line the collar of a shirt with the string of beads. You can also sew a stitch between every few beads to hold them on the shirt. This is not recommended for silk or other delicate fabrics.

Decorate a Headband

Glue the beads to a plain plastic headband. A fabric headband would also work nicely, but use a specially made fabric glue.

Decorate a Lamp Shade

Glue the beads around the top and bottom of a lamp shade. This will create a personalised look especially suited for a teenager's room.

Decorate a Christmas Tree

String the beads on a Christmas tree for an elegant, Victorian look. You can drape them from the top of the tree to the bottom, or wind them around the branches like lights or tinsel.
