Inventors with patents seeking a marketplace now have various options online, including free services that allow them to describe their new products and find potential buyers. These sites do not assist the seller with the transaction. They just get the negotiations started. General Internet searches are productive, and inventors have their own organisations to protect them and advise them in selling their ideas.
Rector Seal buys inventions in plumbing, air treatment, refrigeration, air conditioning, heating, electrical and construction areas. Some of its current products are scale removers, humidifier treatments, ice machine cleaners, coil cleaners and oil-related products. This company and others like it can be found by doing a basic Internet search using the search terms “inventions to buy.”
National Inventor Fraud Center
The National Inventor Fraud Center provides a list of companies that want to buy inventions and counsels inventors to consult a patent attorney before entering negotiations with any company. The Center also lists other databases that contain companies interested in buying.
Edison Inventors Association
The Edison Inventors Association is a non-profit organisation dedicated to helping inventors sell their products. It offers networking opportunities, a newsletter, grants to inventors, publicity, product development help and classes and lectures by lawyers and successful inventors. It is located in Florida, but an Internet search using the terms “inventor association” will show you many such organisations spread across the country.
