SAP Consultants

A SAP consultant handles implementation and use of SAP's suite of business products. Many professional IT firms such as Accenture establish separate divisions specifically trained in SAP's suite of products to assist Accenture's clients with use of the software. Many professional IT firms classify their SAP consultants based on speciality. For instance, Accenture has consultants who specialise in SAP's CRM while other firms such as Axon Solutions classify consultants based on seniority such as SAP senior consultant and SAP managing consultant.

A sampling of several professional IT firms reveals that salaries earned by SAP consultants vary based on experience, demand, region and firm. For example, the average salary for a SAP consultant working with Accenture is £59,424. Entry-level consultants at Accenture earn on average £40,950 but salaries may be as high as £74,100. A senior SAP consultant earns on average £63,129 at Axon Solutions with entry-level consultants bringing in £52,000. In contrast, a SAP managing consultant earns a salary of £78,609. SAP managing consultants at IBM earn £69,116 on average and a SAP technical consultant earns £73,134 on average but could reach as high of £79,300.

Becoming trained as a SAP consultant takes commitment and money. Because the software handles complex organisations, it takes time to become proficient at understanding the various modules. SAP offers certification programs and training classes across the country as well as online courses. SAP teaches these courses directly or partners with an authorised partner. The costs for training vary depending on the level of expertise you wish to achieve. Classes given by SAP tend to be more expensive than those from outside vendors; however, before signing up for an independent training course, make sure the course is SAP-approved and the vendor is an authorised partner.
