Shower a mother-to-be with gifts and good wishes for her soon-to-be bundle of joy with a baby shower. If you're looking for an unexpected theme for the shower, consider using an elephant theme. Elephants are known for being good mothers to their offspring and you can use this theme as an example to show the love the guest of honour and her baby will share.

Send out invitations that give guests a glimpse at what to expect at the shower. Elephant-shaped invitations or invitations that feature a mother and a baby elephant are ideal. Include a clever title on the invitation, such as "(Insert mother-to-be's name) is expecting a little peanut." Include the details and any pertinent information about the event on the invitations.

Since many elephants call the jungle their home, it's fitting to turn the location into a jungle filled with elephants. Drape green crepe paper streamers along the ceiling, along the backs of chairs and across table tops to create the look of vines. Display images of large trees on the walls of the space and bring in fake or real plants, such as ferns or banana plants, in large urns and set them on the floor. Blow up pictures of elephants and hang them on the walls. Use plush elephants as decorative accents and display elephant shaped foil balloons around the space.

Wishing Well

A wishing well is typically a focal point of a baby shower and its intent is to hold small gifts and tokens that will be useful for the baby. For an elephant-themed baby shower, an elephant-themed wishing well is a fitting choice. For an elaborate wishing well, purchase a prefabricated elephant-shaped wagon or have one made and fill it with small gifts; the mom can use the gifts and the wagon can eventually be used by the baby. Another sweet, yet more understated option is to purchase an ordinary wagon and use stencils to paint elephants around it.

Another key element at a baby shower is the cake and for this shower, an elephant-themed cake is a must. Have images of elephants drawn onto a sheet cake with icing, or use edible paper to transfer a picture of an image onto the cake. You could also have the cake shaped like an elephant. Choose whichever option works best for you and don't forget to have a sweet sentiment written across the cake with icing, such as "Showering You with Well Wishes" or "Welcoming a New Little Peanut."
