Prepare rainforest themed snacks for tropical parties, birthdays or other events. Use edible foods, condiments and plants found in the rainforest and experiment with animal, palm tree and leaf cookie cutters to create fun shapes inspired by the Amazon. Some foods found in the rainforest include cinnamon, coffee, citrus fruits, ginger, banana and vanilla.

Vegetable Ideas

A few vegetables grow in the rainforest, but some of these have a spicy kick. Create a vegetable tray featuring rainforest veggies such as hot peppers and chayote. Chayote is an exotic squash that grows naturally in Asian rainforests. Keep the peppers on a separate tray and warn guests about their powerful effect. You might also want to just use some of the peppers to decorate the border of a regular vegetable tray that includes other types of veggies.

Tropical Fruit Ideas

Create decorative fruit trays featuring tropical fruits that grow naturally in the rainforest. Citrus fruits such as pummelo originate from the rainforest along with the famous durian fruit. Durian, also called "the king of fruits" has a sweet taste and creamy texture inside. The outer shell has a spiky feel with four chambers of moist fruit inside. Remove the pods from the shell and place these in cupcake holders or small fruit bowls. You can also place durian on a tray along with other rainforest citrus fruits, coconut, bananas, mangoes, pineapple, guava fruit and maracuja, also called passion fruit. Guest might also enjoy blended tropical smoothie drinks or pressed juices. Many grocery stores and natural foods markets carry a variety of tropical fruits, but you can also order specific fruits such as durian online.

Sandwich Ideas

Find cookie cutters that remind you of rainforest plants and animals. Cookie cutters shaped like monkeys, frogs and leaves work well for a rainforest themed birthday party. Make chicken salad, turkey or roast beef sandwiches and then use the cookie cutters to press the sandwiches into various shapes. Place these on a tray and sprinkle vanilla beans around on the tray around the border of the sandwiches. Place few long cinnamon sticks as well, along with orchid flower heads or tropical leaves. Use silk or real flowers, depending on what you prefer.

Sweet Snacks

Serve a few rain forest-style sweet snacks at the party. Bake cookies and use the same fun animal shaped cookie cutters to make this food blend in with your theme. Bake cupcakes with a hint of cinnamon and vanilla flavour and small edible candy rainforest frogs on top. Chocolate covered bananas also work well as a sweet treat for guests to enjoy.
