If you are a pizza lover you likely have your favourite list of toppings. While pepperoni or sausage pizza can be delicious, pizza with vegetables on top can make your meal a little healthier and still provide a great taste. There are endless combinations of vegetables that can be used on top of pizza. Next time you order, try a yummy vegetable combination.

White Pizza with Broccoli

Do you usually go light on the tomato sauce because you are not a big fan? If so, you may want to try white pizza with broccoli. This pizza contains no tomato sauce. Instead, the top of the pizza is layered with mozzarella, Parmesan and sometimes even ricotta. The pizza is then topped with lots of broccoli and garlic. Some people even like to add mushrooms as a topping for extra flavour. Many pizza places offer this variety or you can try making it at home.

Grilled Veggie Pizza

Grilled vegetables can make a savoury pizza topping. There are many combinations that can be used to top a grilled vegetable pizza. One common style of this pizza includes grilled eggplant, Portobello mushrooms and zucchini. Even if your local pizza parlour doesn't offer this variety, you can always add your own toppings. Call in an order for a plain cheese pizza, and while you are waiting, start grilling your own vegetables to add. When you add your own, your possibilities are unlimited. Try using asparagus or onions.

Spinach and Sundried Tomatoes

Are you in the mood for something different? If you love spinach, look for a pizzeria in your area that offers spinach and sundried tomato pizza. Some venues will even add buffalo mozzarella as an additional topping to this pizza. Buffalo mozzarella is a type of mozzarella made from water buffalo milk instead of cow milk. This combination can be used to top regular pizza or can work as a filling for stuffed pizza. Stuffed pizza consists of a layer of pizza crust with a thick amount of veggies and cheese on top and then another layer of pizza crust.

Other Vegetable Topping Ideas

You can get creative if you make your own pizzas at home. Take vegetable topping inspirations from countries around the world. The country of Brazil offers green peas as a popular pizza topping, something rarely heard of in the United States. If you have your own garden, the possibilities for veggie pizza toppings are endless. Mix and match until you find a combo that your whole family will love. Utilise fresh basil, bell peppers, artichokes and more.
