Few Halloween costumes are more popular than the classic witch with a broomstick. For kids who are dressing up as these wicked broom-flyers, bewitching homemade make-up helps to enhance the disguise. Exercise caution when painting on the eyelids or other sensitive areas and remove make-up with warm water and soap.

Wicked Witch of the West

Paint your face green like the Wicked Witch of the West from "The Wizard of Oz." Make your own simple homemade face paint using cornstarch, cold cream, water and green food colouring. Mix 1 tsp cornstarch with 1/2 tsp cold cream. Stir in 1/2 tsp water and gradually add food colouring until you have the preferred hue of green. Apply make-up primer on your skin first and then paint your green make-up onto your skin using a paintbrush.

Ghoulish Witch

For a simple, ghoulish witch with a pale complexion, try using a cork and some flour. Carefully burn the top of a cork with a lighter or a match. Blow out the flame after a few seconds and let it cool. After applying primer on your skin, rub the cork top all over your skin in a circular motion. The ash will create a spooky black hue. To add a pale complexion, rub some flour onto your skin.

Witchy Warts

Every witch needs a wart on her nose. Prepare a mixture of 3 tbsp cornstarch and 1 tbsp flour. Add 3/4 cup corn syrup and 1/4 cup water and stir until you have a thick consistency. Use this mixture as glue to apply kernels of puffed wheat cereal to your face. Cover the kernel with bits of facial tissue, using the same glue solution. Paint over the wart with concealer or foundation.

Spiders

Decorate your little witch's face with a spider. On the side of her face, use a black eyeliner pencil to draw a line from the top of her hairline around the outside of her eye to the middle of her cheek. Colour a small oval to make the body. Draw eight legs coming out of body. For a sparkly spider, rub some face or body glitter onto the drawing.
