Electronic audio projects can appeal to both electronics and sound enthusiasts, allowing the builder to learn about audio circuits and how they are assembled through hands-on experience. Many audiophiles find themselves building or modifying high-end audio equipment, but got their start with small audio projects. Sound project kits, which can include pre-printed circuit boards, are readily available for experienced and beginning builders alike.

Glassware Audio Design Tube Headphone Amplifier Kit

Many audiophiles find that dedicated headphone amplifiers can greatly improve the sound quality of high-end headphones. These amplifiers can be simple circuits, and are a favourite project to build. Tube amplifiers are also known to posses excellent sound quality, but are much harder to build than a simple solid state amplifier. Glassware Audio Design offers a tube headphone amplifier kit for the experienced builder that includes a circuit board and all necessary components to complete a high-end tube driven headphone amplifier.

Elliot Sound Products Hi-Fi Phono Preamp

Many home sound systems feature turntables, also known as record players. These record players traditionally feature needle cartridges that must be connected to an RIAA phono preamp in order to properly interface with a standard sound system. Rod Elliott of Elliot Sound Products offers a simple to build Hi-Fi RIAA phono preamp project kit, complete with its printed circuit board, required components and instructions. This simple build can be used on high quality turntable systems and is a good project for a moderately experienced builder.

Elliot Sound Products 100 Watt Guitar Amplifier

Another project offered by Elliot Sound Products is a 100 watt solid state guitar amplifier, complete with circuit boards and the required components. This project is designed for experienced builders, and can contain high voltages, requiring extra caution and safety measures when building. Building such a project can teach the enthusiast about electronics construction, troubleshooting, circuit modifications and proper safety procedures, as well as resulting in a useful operational guitar amplifier.

Electric Sumo 3 Channel Microphone Pre-Amplifier and Mixer

The Electric Sumo company offers a simple, ready to use microphone mixer project for music or speech applications. This pre-assembled circuit board only requires an enclosure, power supply connections and audio jacks to become a working, simple three-channel mixer, allowing three microphones to be blended into one line-level audio output. This device is every easy to complete, and will result in a working and practical microphone mixer.
