Create poster board projects that really pop-out with decorative art work or facts that people may not know. Kids often like to use poster boards to showcase science projects or create decorative displays for class assignments. You can also use poster boards to create one-of-a-kind art that takes up more space than a typical painting.

Solar System

Encourage the kids to make a poster board projects showcasing the wonders of the solar system. Place a detailed drawing or cut out paper model of the solar system on the centre of the page. Create one large poster board or use cardboard to create a much larger display with several sheets of poster board paper. The kids can feature rocket ships and facts about space exploration along with displaying facts and wonders about the solar system. Encourage the kids to create bullet points and write facts that people may not know. For instance, the star in our solar system is actually a yellow dwarf. Even though it's a small star, about 1,000 earths can fit inside of it.

Nature Paintings With Embellishments

Show the kids how to make nature paintings on poster board paper. Help them paint mountain landscapes, ocean sunsets or other forest scenes. Collect leaves, sticks and other materials from outdoors to glue on the paintings. The kids can also glue real grass along the bottom of their creation or paint a tree and then cover the tree in real leaves. Help them add golden glitter to the Sun and sky on a sunset painting or glue a few real pebbles and leaves on a forest scene.

Giant Scrapbook Collage

Create a giant scrapbook collage showcasing pictures of family friends or vacation shots. Choose a theme and then choose your pictures according to that theme. A family collage can include pictures of all immediate family members glued on a family tree in the middle of the page. You can also create a nature theme scrapbook page and only include nature photos. Decorate the rest of the page with pressed flowers, leaf charms and other embellishments.

Under the Sea

Help the kids create an under the sea theme with blue poster board. Paint fish, coral, seashells and other under water creatures on the page. Glue on small seashells, star fish, fish stickers and other embellishments to make the painting stand out. The kids can also add small specks of gold glitter where the sand is at the bottom of the page.
