Jack Daniel's is a brand of Tennessee whiskey made with a process called charcoal mellowing, which entails letting the whiskey drip through several feet of charcoal before it's poured into oak barrels to age. You can simply pour 30ml of Jack Daniel's over ice and fill the rest of the glass of cranberry juice to make a cocktail, or you can add other ingredients to make more elaborate mixed drinks.
Kiwi Jack Frost
The Bar None website posts a lesser-known recipe for a cranberry-and-Jack drink, the Kiwi Jack Frost. Fill an 250ml drink shaker with ice. Add 15ml of Grand Marnier, 30ml of triple sec and 60ml of Jack Daniel's. Fill the rest of the shaker with cranberry juice. Put the lid on the shaker, shake the drink to chill it, and pour it into a martini glass. Add a dash of lime juice.
Mountain Berry Punch
A more common cranberry drink is Mountain Berry Punch. Pour 15ml of Jack Daniel's; 15ml each of strawberry, raspberry and blueberry schnapps; 15ml of cranberry juice; and 30ml of sweet and sour mix into an 250ml glass. Mix the ingredients with a drink stirrer. Pour the drink into a cocktail glass and add a splash of lemon-lime soda. Pour 15ml of cherry brandy on top of the drink, but don't stir it. (This is called "floating" the brandy.) Toss in a maraschino cherry and an orange twist.
The Jim Kroener is another favourite containing Jack Daniel's and cranberry juice. Pour 350ml of Jack Daniel's into a 600ml Mason jar filled with ice. Add 60ml of cranberry juice and 60ml of vanilla syrup. Add 1 tsp of lime juice and 3 tsp of sugar. Mix the cocktail with a drink stirrer.
The Lucky Seven, similar to the Red Death, is an Italian fruit punch. Fill an 250ml drink shaker with ice. Add 15ml each of vodka, almond liqueur, triple sec, white rum, Jack Daniel's, Southern Comfort, sloe gin and cranberry juice. Add a dash of lime juice and fill the shaker the rest of the way with orange juice. Put the lid on the drink shaker and shake the drink until it's chilled. Remove the lid, sit a drink strainer on top of the shaker, and strain the drink into an 250ml glass filled with ice.
