Ravers are people who participate in rave culture. They spend all night at clubs and parties, dancing and enjoying life. Although often considered an excuse to do drugs, raves are now more of an excuse to party. Ravers wear bright clothing that reacts to club lights and light clothing that keeps them cool while dancing. Rave wear is usually expensive, but kids can dress up in homemade rave trousers. Making rave trousers requires some sewing skills.

UFO Pants

Imagine bright and baggy trousers that stand out and shine under lights. UFO trousers are made of lightweight material and are usually neon colours and designs. UFO trousers can be made using a pattern for drawstring trousers. Choose a size that is too big for the child who is going to wear them. The trousers are tightened on the waist and baggy down the leg. Use a bright cotton material. Add large pockets using extra material. The bottom of UFO trousers also drag along the ground so make them extra long.

Phat Pants

Phat trousers are made of denim, but have reflective decorations. They are baggy and have very wide legs. Make phat trousers out of a pair of jeans and reduce the amount of sewing required. Cut the jeans along the outside seams to open up the legs. Sew triangle-shaped material to the seam to make the legs wider. Use a bright coloured material or reflective material. The jeans can be decorated using sew-on reflective tape. Sew-on tape can make the phat trousers last longer than sticky reflective tape.

Hot Pants and Fluffies

In cyber rave culture, the girls wear hot trousers with fluffies. Hot trousers are short and tight. Use a bright, neon material to make shorts from a pattern. Since the shorts are for children, make them a little bit longer. Fluffies are furry leg warmers that cover shoes or boots. Take furry material and wrap it around the child's leg to determine the right amount of material. The length should be from the knee to the floor. The width should be tight around the knee, but baggier at the bottom. Sew up along the seam and sew elastic around the top to help the fluffies stay up around the knee. Add a bow to the top, if desired.

Raver trousers can be adorned with decorations and accessories. Sew bright patches of anything the child likes, such as aliens or rainbows. Add buckles or zippers to random places on the trousers. Use zippers to create removable legs on the trousers. Thin suspenders are also popular in rave culture. Drape the suspenders on the sides of the trousers. Add multiple straps from leg to leg, or lace up the back of the trousers like a corset. Many raver girls wear bright coloured tutus over their raver trousers.
