When it comes to chocolate, you can never have too much of a good thing. If you think that your favourite chocolate dessert recipes can't get any better, make them even more decadent and rich with Kit Kat candy bars. Kit Kats feature layers of melt-in-your-mouth milk chocolate and creme-filled wafers. The candy bars are divided into four "fingers," which you can break apart for portion control. Use the candy bars to enhance everything from cakes to milkshakes.

Cake

Decorate a whimsical-looking cake with Kit Kat bars. To make the dessert, bake your favourite chocolate or vanilla cake in a round baking pan. Cover the entire cake with thick, rich frosting, such as buttercream. Break several Kit Kat candy bars into 2-bar sections. Line the entire perimeter of the cake with vertical Kit Kat bars; gently push the bars into the frosting to secure. Top the cake with small, colourful chocolate candies if you desire. Finish the cake by tying a wide ribbon around the candy bars as a decorative touch.

Pie

Make a chocolate mouse pie even more tasty by enhancing it with a Kit Kat crust. As one option, simply line the bottom of a pre-made graham cracker or pretzel crust with 1/4-inch Kit Kat bar pieces, and pour the pie filling on top. Another way to create a chocolate bar crust is by finely chopped the Kit Kat bars in a food processor. Press the chopped candy bars into a pie tin to create a crust and place it in a freezer for four hours to harden. Pour the chocolate mouse filling over the chocolate bar crust.

Milkshake

If you love both ice cream and candy bars, you can''t go wrong with a Kit Kat milkshake dessert. Serve the fun-to-drink shakes during children's birthday parties as a treat. To make the dessert, place a few scoops of either vanilla or chocolate ice cream into a blender, along with milk and broken Kit Kat chocolate bar pieces. Blend the mixture until it is smooth and creamy. You can use frozen yoghurt in place of ice cream if you desire.

Candy Apples

Customise candy apples by covering them with sweet chocolate bar pieces. The apples make festive and delicious Halloween party desserts. Start by covering fresh apples with thick, melted caramel. Crush Kit Kat candy bars into fine pieces and place them into a large bowl. Roll the caramel-covered apples in the chocolate bar pieces to thoroughly coat.
