Bravia is a line of high-definition flat-screen LCD televisions produced by Sony, and the KDL-32XBR4 is a 32-inch model that has several video input ports compatible with both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 game consoles. Both consoles can be connected with HDMI, component or composite video cables, and the Xbox 360 can also be connected to the KDL-32XBR4 with a VGA cable. Optimal display settings for both consoles maximise the screen resolution and image quality.

Xbox 360 (HDMI)
HDMI is available on all current Xbox 360 console models and offers a display resolution of 1080p, the maximum resolution supported by the KDL-32XBR4 television. The maximum resolution is automatically recognised and enabled on the Xbox 360 when connected to an HDMI cable, but you may need to set the option to "Expanded" on the "Reference Levels" screen in the Xbox 360 console settings to get the full black levels supported by HDMI.
Xbox 360 (Non-HDMI)
Those who own older Xbox 360 consoles without HDMI output ports or don't own an HDMI cable can use component, VGA or composite video cables to connect to the display. Component video can output at a display resolution of 1080p, though the digital video signal will be converted to analogue in order to output via component. Using the VGA output will allow video output of a maximum screen resolution of 640 x 480. Composite video has the lowest display quality, with a maximum resolution of 480p. Select "Optimal Resolution" on the HDTV settings screen in the Xbox 360 console settings to automatically select the best resolution for the video output cable you're using.
PlayStation 3 (HDMI)
All PlayStation 3 consoles have an HDMI output port that outputs at the TV's maximum screen resolution of 1080p. Set the "RGB Full Range" option to "Full" in the PS3's display settings screen to optimise the black levels for HDMI output. You can also enable "Super-White Output" that allows full white levels to be displayed while watching video.
PlayStation 3 (Non-HDMI)
On the PlayStation 3 without HDMI, the component video output supports up to 1080p while composite and S-video components will only support up to 480i. Using the analogue AV cable will allow a display resolution of 480p. "RGB Full Range" and "Super-White Output" should be disabled when using any non-HDMI video output; otherwise, the colours will wash out during playback.
Connecting Both Consoles
Since the KDL-32XBR4 has three HDMI ports (two in the rear and one on the side panel) as well as two sets of component and composite video inputs, gamers who own both consoles can keep them connected simultaneously, no matter what video interface cables they are using.
