The next time you get ready to toss a plastic water bottle into the trash, think again. You can turn your trash into treasure by simply using a bit of creativity and using your imagination. Make hanging mobile crafts for kids using empty water bottles. This is guaranteed to be loads of fun, and it's also good for the environment! Try these ideas to add a nice touch to your child's room.

Pirate Ships

You can take plastic bottles and design them into a pirate ship as hanging art in your child's room. Simply remove the outer wrapping of the bottle, and clean out the inside and surface. Then, cover the bottle with brown paper bags that are cut into the shape of a pirate ship. Use cotton balls, pipe cleaners and markers to design your own army of pirate ships. Don't forget to cut out a space for you to put a small pirate figurine inside.

Space Ships

By using recycled bottles as art, you can add a lot of flair to your child's room. If your child is a future astronaut, why not add a few space ships, rockets and UFOs as mobile art to their room? You can flatten plastic bottles and add aluminium foil to them. You can add buttons, glitter and other small shiny objects to give the bottles a fun design that is other worldly.

Aquarium Fun

You can create a hanging aquarium using empty plastic bottles, construction paper and water colour paint. Cut off two inches of the top of the water bottle, and fill it with sand. Then, cut out construction paper that is in the shape of a fish and decorate it with your favourite colours. You can add green pipe cleaners to look like algae. This is a great idea, and you'll never have to clean this tank again.

Bird Feeders

Another fun way to use plastic bottles is to fill them up with bird seed and hang them outside of your child's room. These bird feeders will bring a host of colourful, chirping birds to your child's window. You can also put bells and chimes on the mobile bird feeder for an extra sense of calm and serenity. If there are certain breeds of birds that you are hoping to attract, you can buy special bird feed that will bring them to your window in no time.
