Dressing up for Halloween with another guy allows you both to create a duo costume that is greater than the sum of its parts. However, most costume shops market duo costumes to mixed gender couples, making it difficult for two guys to find the right costume. Whether he's your brother, buddy, best friend or partner, select duo costumes that complement each other to do together what you could not do alone.

Famous duos

From Laurel and Hardy to Beavis and Butthead, famous duos are popular costume ideas for two guys. Dig up some old headbanger clothing to dress as Wayne and Garth from "Wayne's World" or Bill and Ted from "Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure." Create a Bert and Ernie costume using orange and yellow face paint and striped turtlenecks. Pair blue overalls with either a red or green matching shirt and hat to dress like Mario and Luigi from "Super Mario Bros."

Arch enemies

Without villains to fight there would be no heroes. Spend Halloween as arch enemies, such as the caped crusader Batman and the colourfully creepy Joker. Dress in matching white and black suits with wide brimmed hats to be the spies from the Spy vs. Spy comics. A white robe, tan trousers and a plastic lightsaber is all you need to be Luke Skywalker, but your buddy will have to buy a full-body costume to be his Sith Lord father, Darth Vader.

Household objects

Look around your house for things that come in pairs to inspire your costume ideas. Construct a pair of dice costume using two cardboard boxes and poster paint in black and white. Wear red and yellow clothing with matching pointed hats to be ketchup and mustard or black and white clothing with silver headpieces to be salt and pepper shakers. Create LEGO block or Tetris piece costumes from cardboard boxes that look interlocked when you stand next to each other.

Two for one

Although there are two guys, make yourselves into one costume. Four-legged animals such as horses, camels and elephants are popular choices for two-person costumes, with one guy portraying the front end and the other the back. If you are both roughly the same body type, go as a two-headed person or conjoined twins. Buy a large shirt or sew two shirts together so that it is big enough for you to both fit inside. Each guy operates one arm, with the other arm under the shirt, and both wear matching trousers to complete the illusion.
